- Kemper Engineering is scheduled to appear at the 2010 Louisiana Engineering Society's Joint Engineering Society Conference being held at the Holiday Inn Holidome in Lafayette, January 28th-29th. In addition to a booth, Bart will be speaking on Developing Performance-Based Standards at 9am on the 28th in the Grand-Pre' room. Please feel free to stop by and say hello.
- Kemper Engineering welcomes Michael Busceme, a Mechanical Engineer, to its staff. He is a 1995 graduate of Louisiana State Universty. Mike brings a wealth of experience to the team. For the last nine years he has been a Reliability Engineer for Union Carbide, Dow Chemical and Motiva. He has also previously worked for John Crane as an on-site representative for mechanical seals as well as a consulting engineer for KnightHawk Engineering. In his spare time, Mike is involved in martial arts and local community service. (7-09)
- Christine Law has been inducted into The National Association of Professional Women. This recognition is a credit to her 20 years of work in administration and management, including time spent with Jacobs Engineering. Also, her bluegrass band, Sweet Tea Bluegrass, has released a new CD and has recently been invited to several major events in Louisiana. www.sweetteabluegrass.com (4-09)
- Bart has been invited to join the new ASME RAMCAP (Risk Assessment and Mitigation for Critical Asset Protection) Codes and Standards Committee. This is a new standard in development to provide a systematic approach for safeguarding infrastructure and sites. Bart's combination of industrial and military expertise will add to the committee's strength, which includes representatives from Westinghouse Electric Company (Nuclear Division), URS, HSB, American Water Works Association, and the Virginia Tech Advanced Research Institute. (3-09)
- Kemper Engineering welcomes Fallon Farber (Mechanical Engineer, E.I.) to its staff. Fallon is a 2008 graduate of the University of New Orlean's College of Engineering and gained engineering experience by interning for over 2 years with Lockheed Martin. Her interest include Finite Element Analysis (FEA), heat transfer, materials and fluid dynamics. Her hobbies include playing the piano along with some guitar, helping students in math, running, painting and spending time with family and friends. (1-09)
- Bart is now part of the ASME Pressure Vessel for Human Occupancy Committee, based on his years of design, troubleshooting and fit-for-service work in pressure vessel engineering. This organization is responsible for establishing the US standards for design, fabrication and safety of items including non-military submarines, diving systems such as diving bells and decompression chambers, and hyperbaric chambers. This committee includes representatives from the US Navy, US Coast Guard, commercial diving companies, medical equipment companies, submarine operators, fabricators and engineering consultants. Bart is active in the Diving, Hyperbaric and Design subcommittees and is part of the task force developing the proposed Performance Based Standard for PVHO applications. (11-08)

Bart Kemper, P.E. stands in front of the CSS Pioneer, forerunner to the CSS
Hunley as part of the ASME Pressure Vessel for Human Occupancy Committee's trip to the Warren Lasch Conservation Center in Charleston, SC. The ASME PVHO Committee toured the tank in which the Hunley is being preserved and studied. The ASME PVHO Code is the engineering design code governing submarines, diving bells, decompression chambers, and hyperbaric chambers. Bart is one of the newest members of the ASME PVHO Committee.
In these pictures, Bart is sitting inside a model of the CCS Hunley made for the 1999 movie, "The Hunley." This model is slightly larger than the actual submarine in order to better accomadate the actors. The Hunley was powered by seven soldiers cranking the offset shaft while the captain steered the ship and controlled its dives. Wiith Bart is "Tiger", given by his sons to "keep him safe" during his deployment to Iraq as an engineer officer and now the company mascot for Kemper Engineering. |
- Kemper Engineering welcomes Cynthia Daigle (Graphic Designer) to its staff. Cynthia graduated from the LSU School of Design in 2005 and has spent the past 3 years as a graphic designer on staff at Baton Rouge's InRegister Magazine. An accomplished graphic designer, she is currently adding mechanical design to her repetoire. When she is not taking care of her many animals or watching the Tigers or the Saints toss the pigskin, she can be found taking photographs or using one of her many fine art talents. (9-08)
- Kemper Engineering welcomes Christine Law (Business Manager) to itss staff. With previous experience at Jacobs Engineering
and Southern University, Christine has quickly transformed Kemper Engineering with her organization and management skills and she is putting to use her background in graphic design. Christine always puts her family first but in her spare time, she performs with local cajun band The Bayou Hot Shots and a bluegrass band, Sweet Tea Bluegrass (8-08)
- Kemper Engineering welcomes Krista Wohlfeil (Mechanical Designer). Krista, an Army veteran, comes all the way from Seattle and has quickly become acclimated to our local climate and culture. In addition to her experience and training as a mechanical designer, she is well-known in the Seattle area for her talents in hand-crafted glass beadwork and creating beautiful illuminated manuscripts. (12-07)
- Bart was recently recognized in the Fall 2007 edition of the Mechanical Engineering Alumni newsletter for being honored as one of the Top Ten finalist for the Federal Engineer of the Year Award. Click here to download the PDF file of the newsletter.
